Proyecto Patria, a light on the horizon that seeks to free Cubans from the darkness that imprisons them, that chains them—not only with iron and stone but with invisible threads, woven from shadows that have nested in hearts, germinated in minds, and silently poisoned the dreams of generations. The strongest chains are not those that bind wrists, but those that shackle souls. And in those captive souls, fear is the cruelest jailer.
Proyecto Patria is the burning star in the midst of that darkness, the seed that dares to sprout in lands where silence has been sown. It is poetry and resistance; it is song, battle, and awakening. A vision that fiercely burns the roots of ingrained patterns in minds lulled to sleep by decades of indoctrination, awakening a people who have forgotten that they deserve more, that they can be more.
This project is the light on the horizon, a firm promise at dawn announcing new times where freedom is not an empty word, but a living heartbeat in every Cuban chest. It is not just political, economic, or social freedom; it is the profound awakening of the human spirit that has been locked away in the labyrinth of fear and lies.
Wake up, Cuban!
Break the chains, tear down the walls—the ones that cannot be seen but hurt the deepest. Free the words, free the mind. Let culture once again be pure air and not a disguised prison. Let minds become gardens where ideas and dreams blossom, not dry lands punished by fear.
Proyecto Patria exists to restore to Cubans their right to imagine, to question, and to decide. It is a beacon calling out to its scattered children, to the youth who will no longer inherit chains but wings.
Let no heart beat under the dictates of a regime again. Let no mind remain trapped by patterns imposed from power. Let every Cuban remember who they are and who they can be. Because Patria is freedom, and freedom is full life, dignified life, our life.
Because Patria is not imposed silence, but a voice set ablaze.
Because Patria is our free essence, without master or tyrant.
Proyecto Patria emerges from the deep longing for freedom and from the recognition and understanding of all the factors and mistakes of the past that have hindered the effective organization of opposition in Cuba, both inside and outside the island. While many share the desire for change, the lack of structure and direction has scattered our forces. Today, with knowledge, strategy, and the use of new technologies, this project aims to unify all those efforts into a single goal, with a clear and determined vision that gathers all the lessons of the past, transforming them into fuel for the future.
We do not fight against shadows or mirages; we fight against real chains, against fears deeply embedded in the heart of a noble people who deserve to live in fullness, honesty, and dignity. The Project for Our Free Homeland begins by dismantling each and every factor that has prevented the Effective Organization of the Opposition, both inside and outside the island. Every lie, every obstacle, and every fear has been clearly identified:
1. The Absence of a Solid and Clear Project to Support: A Unified Vision for Cuba
No project has emerged that guarantees a clear path to change, backed by a strong government program and a structure that, after the transition, could constitute a solid party that inspires confidence, that recognizes the right to think and decide. Without a structured and organized path, efforts have canceled each other out, heading in multiple directions. This keeps those willing to take action isolated, unsure of where to run, confused, dizzy, and exhausted. In such a state, they are prone to become martyrs—but we do not need martyrs or individual heroic acts. We need unity and sustained progress in the right direction.
Proyecto Patria offers a unified vision through a dual platform: OPEN Market and OPEN PatrIA. This translates into an action plan with defined phases (from launch to consolidation) and specific goals (such as reaching 1, 2, and 4 million users), allowing opposition efforts to be coordinated and sustainable, avoiding isolated actions that create confusion or martyrdom.
2. Fear of Reprisals as a Barrier to Action: Overcoming Silence with Coordinated Action
Fear of regime reprisals has silenced a large percentage of the population, preventing any attempt at free and open organization. Repression against dissenters is evident in every corner, including workplaces, limiting the people’s ability to conspire without fear. The phrases “Let’s change the topic” or “Don’t talk about that here” are common reactions to even the most superficial criticism.
That fear has been implanted so deeply in the collective unconscious that people’s faces betray their terror when they realize they might have been overheard protesting. The project establishes security and anonymity systems using end-to-end encryption, microSD app distribution, offline connectivity, P2P networks, and satellite support. Additionally, it establishes a series of protocols that create a safe environment where citizens can organize and act without fear of being detected by the regime.
3. Distrust and the Myth of Constant Surveillance and Regime Superiority
There is a false belief that in any gathering of four people, five are State Security officers, fostering greater distrust and keeping the population in check. This myth, perpetuated by the regime itself, has prevented Cubans from trusting one another. In reality, those who support the regime likely make up no more than 5% of the population.
Proyecto Patria aims to reveal the true number of people opposing the regime. By implementing secure communication channels and internal monitoring systems, it enables data collection and dissemination of participation statistics. The promotion of testimonies and real cases of activism will show that a majority desires change, strengthening trust among citizens and dismantling the myth of regime dominance.
4. The Ideological Trap: Freeing Those Caught in the Ideal – Breaking Indoctrination
A small sector of individuals genuinely believes in the regime, composed of honest, highly trained, and ideologically committed people. They have upheld the system for too long, convinced of their societal and governmental support—when in reality, most barely remember them, and the government merely uses and manipulates them.
It is crucial to support and help them understand the truth. Through the Academy of Formation, the project offers courses in oratory, leadership, resilience, and civic education. Information, when coming from close social circles, is more effective at breaking inherited indoctrination. This education in critical thinking will enable these individuals to adopt a renewed and active vision for change, transforming them into the final push needed for transformation.
5. Lack of Resources and Logistical Support
Opposition initiatives have largely lacked financial, technological, and material resources to operate autonomously. Limited access to secure communication tools, funding, and legal support has restricted the ability of opposition movements to grow and mobilize.
6. Ideological Division and Personalism in the Opposition
The Cuban opposition has been fragmented by ideological and personal divisions. This lack of unity has weakened joint efforts and prevented long-term strategic consolidation, eroding credibility and effectiveness.
The project proposes a cooperative framework that respects the identity of each leader or movement while uniting them under a common strategy. The platform empowers them with management and analysis tools that exponentially enhance their capabilities. By fostering collaboration, reducing rivalries, and eliminating personalism, it strengthens collective action.
7. Isolation Between the Diaspora and the Island
The Cuban diaspora has strength and resources, but there has been a disconnection with movements within the island. Proyecto Patria seeks to close this gap, integrating the diaspora into an effective support strategy.
By linking Cubans inside and outside the island, the project creates a digital bridge that enables interaction, coordination, and mutual support, forging a unified strategy that finally closes the historical divide.
8. Regime Propaganda to Discredit the Opposition
The regime has systematically invested in disinformation, portraying the opposition as traitors and foreign agents, making it difficult for them to gain public acceptance and limiting social support.
9. Lack of a Secure and Anonymous Communication System
Without a secure and anonymous communication system, citizens fear expressing their ideas and coordinating their efforts. This is fundamental for Proyecto Patria, which must provide infrastructure that protects the identity and security of its users.
The digital infrastructure of Proyecto Patria is designed to safeguard its users’ identities. With encryption technologies, offline communication systems, and robust security protocols, an environment is created where citizens can express themselves and organize without risking their safety.
10. Selective Repression and Co-optation of Leadership
The Cuban government has used tactics of selective repression and co-optation of leaders. By imprisoning, silencing, or even bribing prominent figures, it dismantles emerging efforts for change and discourages other citizens from engaging in activism.
By diversifying leadership and avoiding the concentration of power in a few figures, the project reduces the risk of selective repression. Additionally, the platform incorporates legal and digital protection measures that make it harder to identify and co-opt leaders, fostering an emerging and distributed leadership.
11. Censorship and Control of Information
The regime controls the media and limits internet access, isolating Cubans from objective information and global trends. Censorship restricts access to ideas of change and examples of successful struggles, leaving the population without models of inspiration.
Through alternative distribution channels (P2P platforms, satellite connectivity, and mesh networks), Proyecto Patria circumvents state censorship, allowing access to unmanipulated information. This breaks the regime’s monopoly on information and provides citizens with models for change based on real-world experiences.
12.Lack of Civic and Democratic Education
After decades of indoctrination, many Cubans lack education on democracy, civil rights, and independent social organization, limiting their ability to envision democratic structures.
The «Academia Patria» and other training modules within OPEN Patria focus on imparting knowledge about human rights, democracy, and social organization. This empowers citizens to understand and exercise their rights, strengthening the educational foundation necessary for structural change.
13. Absence of a Strategic Framework and Clear Objectives
The lack of a clear strategic plan has led many movements to dissolve without achieving results. Without an action map with specific goals, opposition efforts become fragmented into isolated actions.
With a detailed action plan and well-defined phases, the project establishes a strategic framework that guides every step, from launch to consolidation. Quantifiable objectives (such as milestones for active users) provide clarity and direction, preventing the dispersion of efforts.
14. Emotional and Psychological Exhaustion
Constant repression and daily struggles have created emotional and psychological fatigue among the population. Proyecto Patria must consider mental and emotional health as part of its action plan to sustain the movement in the long term.
Recognizing the importance of mental health, the project incorporates resilience training, stress management, and psychological support in its educational programs and Academia Patria. Additionally, the formation of support communities and the recognition of emerging leaders help maintain motivation and emotional well-being.
15. Economic Dependence on the State
Many people rely directly on the state for their livelihood, limiting their willingness to engage in activities that could jeopardize their economic stability.
By promoting a decentralized economy through OPEN Market, the project offers alternatives for independent income generation. This economic autonomy reduces dependence on the state, encouraging citizens to participate in activities that strengthen their financial freedom.
16. Lack of Recognized and Trustworthy Emerging Leaders
Although brave individuals have spoken out, the absence of clearly identified and respected leadership figures has hindered the opposition’s cohesion.
The project enhances the training and visibility of new leaders through leadership programs, merit-based systems, and public recognition in events and digital platforms. This process helps identify and consolidate figures who can unify and lead the movement with credibility.
17. Distrust in the Effectiveness of Peaceful Resistance
Due to regime propaganda and accumulated frustration, there is widespread skepticism regarding peaceful resistance methods, discouraging potential participants.
The project relies on coordinated action and peaceful resistance, proving through tangible results that change can be achieved without violence. Civic education and shared experiences reinforce trust in non-violent methods as tools for transforming reality.
18. Widespread Surveillance and Social Control System
The regime’s surveillance structure, through the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR), monitors citizens’ daily lives and perpetuates fear, discouraging collective organization.
19. Lack of an Alternative Awareness and Education Strategy
In a system where the media and education are state-controlled, there has been no accessible and consistent counter-information strategy.
Proyecto Patria designs an alternative educational system to educate citizens on rights, democracy, and civic engagement.
Through Academia Patria, specialized courses, and the digital newspaper Periódico Patria, the project establishes a continuous strategy of counter-information and education on rights, democracy, and civic responsibility. This provides the population with the tools to develop critical awareness, offering an alternative to the regime’s official narrative.
Against each of these obstacles, Proyecto Patria now rises—firm and radiant, armed with the invincible power of knowledge, secure technology, and the authentic unity between Cubans inside and outside the island.
We also hold the greatest power on our side: the power of truth and ideas. This is the truth, and we must defend and promote it, because those who carry the light within them but do not share it to illuminate others are not acting righteously, are not walking toward the Father, and have not understood the message of the Son.
“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
—Christ of Nazareth
As José Martí, our apostle, said:
“Freedom is the right of every man to be honest, to think and speak without hypocrisy. A man who hides what he thinks or does not dare to say what he thinks is not an honest man. A man who obeys a bad government without working to make it good is not an honest man. A man who conforms to unjust laws and allows those who mistreat his homeland to trample it is not an honest man.”
The time has come to restore that lost honesty. Every Cuban, from the youngest to the oldest, must understand that being honest also means being brave—it means daring to dream out loud, daring to act together for a Cuba free from fear and chains.
This is our historic opportunity: to break the silence and distrust once and for all, to build a safe path to freedom, and to restore to the Cuban people the true dignity of living in a country where every voice matters and every dream is possible.
The time to wake up is now!
It is time to unite forces and wills, to tear down the imposed barriers together, and to walk toward that light that already shines bright on our horizon.
Because Patria is freedom, and freedom is our homeland.
Proyecto Patria has come to stay. It has come to win.
